Distinguished Australian film director Phillip Noyce is set to attend a special outdoor screening of his critically acclaimed 1978 film “Newsfront” on Saturday, January 19, 2013, in the garden of Grays Inn at the heart of Wollombi Village in Hunter Valley Wine Country.

The screening kicks off the summer series of Flicks on the Green, an event organized by boutique wine producer Noyce Brothers Wine (of which Phillip Noyce is partner) in celebration of classic cinema, great food and excellent wines in the historic setting of Grays Inn.

The classic drama “Newsfront” follows the exploits of Australian movie newsreel reporters and staff and effectively “represents a seminal moment in the emergence of the Australian film industry on the world stage.” “Newsfront” stars Bill Hunter, Wendy Hughes, Bryan Brown, and other legendary Australian actors. The film won eight awards from the Australian Film Institute (including Best Picture and Best Director) and 18 international awards, and was highly acclaimed at the 1978 Cannes Film Festival.

The event will take place in the Grays Inn Garden from 7 p.m. Phillip Noyce, award-winning film director of “Rabbit Proof Fence,” “Clear and Present Danger,” “The Quiet American,” “Patriot Games,” and other popular works will be chatting about the film and his career from 7:30 p.m. while the screening will begin at around 8 p.m. Following this event, the successful film director is slated to fly to New York where “Newsfront,” together with his medium-length film “Backroads,” will also have a special screening for Australia Day at the Lincoln Centre.

Grays Inn is a 19th century accommodation renowned for its sandstone Georgian building which also houses the Noyce Brothers Cellar Door. Wollombi locals and visitors attending the outdoor film screening at the Grays Inn Garden are sure to behold the beautiful landscapes of Hunter Valley while getting a taste of the culture and wine creations (distinctive Hunter-style Semillon and shiraz wines) offered by Noyce Brothers Wine.
